It lies within easy reach of Dartmoor National Park and one hour to golden sandy beaches on the North and South coasts of Devon and the Devon / Cornwall border. Walk around the garden, roam about the paddock listening to the birds chirping, or play a few games. Relax in this beautiful location surrounded by pasture, trees and wildlife, the inspiration of poets, or sit on the patio with a cool drink and enjoy a succulent meal cooked on the Weber Genesis gas BBQ.
At the end of the day sink into our large sumptuous beds. Two Emperor and one Super King size, covered with luxurious Egyptian cotton bedding, and white fluffy towels for use within the property. Hairdryers, alarm clocks and wooden coat-hangers are all provided. The home also features a beautiful en-suite and a fantastically presented main bathroom with bath and shower.
On the western side of the paddock lies a grade II listed building and large garden, St Peter’s Church and grounds, and the Town Square with its grade II listed Jubilee Clock Tower. The paddock itself contains part of a Scheduled Monument, a Roman Motte known as Castle Court which appears as a small hill at the side of the paddock.
In days gone by a pony could be found in the stable or ambling around the paddock, occasionally cantering around with honey bees in hot pursuit after getting too close to their hives nearby.
The stable has now become the garden shed and the only bees are the ones that visit the garden to gather nectar from vibrant summer flowers. On a hot summers day the gentle hum of bees and chirping of the birds help guests to relax and unwind from the humdrum of everyday life.
Jackdaws sometimes gather in the large trees around the paddock for a chat and the smaller birds are always singing joyfully, an uplifting pleasure to the ear.
