About the Area
North Tawton is a small historical Market Town on the Tarka Trail.

Clovehayes lies in the Heart of Devon and close to the northern edge of Dartmoor National Park. It is central for travelling to beautiful beaches, tourist attractions and National Trust Properties. Cornwall can be reached in just over an hour.

 

The River Taw is at the western approach to the town and gives North Tawton its name. Dartmoor is within sight from vantage points around the town and a short drive away. If you like to walk you will find relaxing walks along public rights of way which take you right into the countryside and along tranquil river banks.

 

NORTH TAWTON TOWN SQUARE

 

It is only a short 3-5 minute walk to the local shops ~ Spar, Chemist, Post Office, 2 Hairdressers, Barber, Café, Fish & Chip shop, Kebab shop and 2 Pubs within walking distance, 3 if you feel like a longer walk or a short drive.

 

Bus Stop ~ with regular week-day bus service to Exeter and Barnstaple and villages en route, also a not quite so regular bus service to and from Okehampton.

 

SHOPPING

 

Large Supermarkets are located at Okehampton (7 miles), Crediton (10 miles), Exeter (20 miles).   A smaller Co-Op supermarket is located at Bow (4 miles). Most supermarkets deliver to the area.

TRAVEL

 

North Tawton lies north west of the City of Exeter (20 miles) just off the A3072.

 

Exeter trains run nationwide and Exeter International Airport is situated just outside of the City.  Taxi ranks are situated outside of the Stations [Exeter St David’s / Exeter Central] and in the City High Street.
